Someone actually bother to leave me a note ... to say ... my blog is not reflective of Singapore's food culture!! And I should blog more on hawker food!!! Gawd!! Is there some authority out there regulating food blogs' content??
I rather you see me as a babe who hangs out at cool indie cafes although I am actually a hawker whore. Actually, for the chap who left the note, if you bother to read this blog carefully, it is not difficult to arrive at this conclusion. And just for you if you must know, I ate loads of yummy hawker hakka stuff for lunch yesterday. I do appreciate the hawker food culture. If it was not clear enough in the past. I hope it is by now.
Mei Zhen whips up a range of mean Hakka food. My fave is actually their soon pan which gets sold out pretty fast. Glutinous rice and abacus seeds are soft, chewy and just very delicious. Even their chee cheong fan is pretty extraordinary in taste and texture. If you happen to drop by Shunfu Mart, try not to give Mei Zhen a miss.
Okay, guess I have done my part in "promoting Singapore's hawker culture" not that it really matters to anyone anyway. Other than my family, friends and some really nice people out there, no one actually cares about the direction of this little food blog. This blog is never meant for anything as meaningful as promoting culture of any nature and it will never be.
But just to satisfy my curiosity, are you a hawker food lover like myself? Leave a comment and tell me which is your fave hawker food and stall can?

The internet is a safety blanket for people with nothing to do. I have seen other bloggers who got it worse. Mean comments and all. Anyways, I like oyster omelette and the stall at bukit timah market is excellent.
Ignore the person not worth your effort to retaliate. Like too many hawkers to have a favourite
Roast pork rice besides mei zhen is the best.
Haven't been back to Sg for years and so I miss hawker centres tremendously. Tried to recreate bak chor me at home but can't. Miss the hong lim stall a lot.
Hee thanks people I like oyster omelette and bcm too
Some people are amazingly free...
Totally understand your pain. I generally refrain from blogging about dabao-ed food (coz dabao-ed food looks terrible), and because most of my hawker food is dabao-ed (coz it's so much more comfy eating in my air-conditioned home/office than at the stuffy and sweltering hawker centre...try eating a steaming hot bowl of fish soup at the hawker centre!), it seems like I never eat at such "cheapo" places.
Don't bother with such "boliao" morons. They're mostly losers with nothing to live for in their lives. Just imagine, if they can find fault with something as innocent as a food blog such as yours, what they're really like in real life. Probably whiny pathetic complaint kings/queens.
Who is to dictate what we eat or blog? Pet peeve. You don't have to answer nor pander to anybody PY, definitely not to this fella who seriously needs to get a life.
yixiao, bern and ice: love you gals :):)
write what you want, and eat what you want! i'm still reading! always appreciate your opinions and take on any restaurant. it's a guideline to check out whether i might want to visit an eatery. singapore is a melting pot of EVERY food. Not just hawker food, which generally, though affordable is not very healthy, same like some expensive restaurants which might not offer healthy food either. all a matter of choice.
if hawker food goes zero lard and msg, guaranteed, i'd eat them more often. my one weakness- chwee kueh. :P
Imp: Thanks for your kind words. Really undeserving for all the nice things you lavished on this blog. I hate msg and love chwee kueh too :)
